George Olive wood chopping board - 50 cm

The olive tree is an essential element of the Meditteranian culture and has been a part of the Tunisian landscape since its domestication six thousand years ago. The wood is sculpted, sanded, polished, drenched in oil and then dried before it is coated with oil. The living material with its irregularities makes every piece unique. In recent years, the UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) has been involved in a project for the development of objects and ustensils in olive tree wood. This helps local artisans add value to their products and improve their revenues and working conditions.
